Market Associate/Barista

REED'S FARM 
Reed’s Farm is a non profit regenerative farm and animal sanctuary located in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.  Our location is uniquely suited for our mission in our community, which is to become essentially a community hub for organic healthy food and an educational resource. Our vision involves working with underserved community members through programming and workforce development as well as helping to build a healthier food system with focus on nearby
Atlantic City. We have recently opened our indoor market featuring coffee & espresso drinks as well as tea and herbal beverages alongside a commercial kitchen producing vegetable-based grab & go items including: breads, sandwiches & flatbreads, soups & sauces, pickles & kimchi, baked goods & ice creams. All items produced by the kitchen include ingredients grown at Reed's Farm and are focused on health-conscious eating.

Below is a list of responsibilities and qualifications. While this is our ideal list, we will consider candidates that do not necessarily have all of the qualifications, but have sufficient experience and talent. ​

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:​

​

  • Greet and engage customers

  • Check out customers via electronic registers

  • Set up the market in the morning and clean up at the end of the day

  • Merchandise produce and retail items

  • Greet, prepare, service and take orders for beverages and/or food in a friendly, courteous, professional & timely manner

  • Open and willing to learn about our produce, baked goods, farm practices, etc.

  • Educate customers on our market offerings and make recommendations based on their preferences

  • Maintain output of products, aesthetics and presence for farm visitors; stock items as needed

  • Answer the telephone and assist with customer questions

  • Clean equipment & coffee bar area; be able to perform maintenance on espresso & coffee machine 

  • Some knowledge of calibrating coffee grinder & dialing in espresso  

  • Comply with health & safety regulations

  • Clean and maintain a safe market environment for visitors and staff

  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and staff

  • Communicate customer feedback to manager(s)

  • Confident in learning and using technology 

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, google docs and sheets

  • Able to handle and work with varying personalities, ability and skill levels

  • Able to lift at least 40 lbs

  • Willingness to step in on a variety of tasks as a team player

  • Ability to network with local community

COMPENSATION & AVAILABILITY

Available at least 3 days a week between Thursday-Sunday. Weekends, early mornings and occasionally some evenings

This position is : $15.13/hr + depending on experience​
